Storing Comments Directly From Email >>Mail 2 DB
Suppose you have some information about one of your donors that you want to store in the Comments Section in Revolution Online. Now using the new Mail 2 DB function, you can send an email to your Revolution Online database and have it appear magically in the donor’s account. Seriously. It’s really cool. You don’t even have to login. In fact you can be sitting at a cafe, sipping your latte, having just completed another successful donor visit, write some notes in an email; hit the “send button” and “voi-la” – that comment is now in the donor record. Life is good.
Okay, you want to know how right? Okay, okay….calm down (you have had way too much caffeine)…but I will tell ya….
- Create any normal email message, attaching any documents you like. (Oh did I forget to mention attachments? Those can go in too….)
- Add a special line somewhere in the body of the message that starts with the string “ID:” followed by the donor’s account id. (Yes, you can include multiple records at the same time).
- Send the email to your specially designated email address. The email can be sent either “To”, “Cc”, or “Bcc” (which gives you some flexibility here).
Within minutes, there it will be, inside the donor’s records in the database. And to be sure…Revolution Online will send you a confirmation email telling you the success (or failure) of your email along with the details of your request.
Note/Disclaimers: This feature requires a designated email address which will be given to your organization upon request. Please contact your ROI Technical Account Manager for more information and set up. Only incoming emails associated with VALID USERIDs are allowed to use this feature. Emails from third party addresses not registered with Revolution Online or associated with valid USERIDS will not be allowed to update any accounts for security reasons. Void where prohibited by law. No animals were harmed in the testing of this feature. Employees of ROI Solutions not eligible to win.
Major Gifts Projects
In addition to going directly into individual accounts to create Major Gifts Projects and Activities, ROI users can locate records using the Prospect Tools within the Major Gifts Console.
Once located, you are able customize this list to display whatever fields are most useful to you.
And now, by selecting “Create MG Projects” you can use the new Major Gifts Project Wizard. This will allow you to select records from the list and send them through a wizard to create MG Projects and Actions…making the set up for Major Gifts wicked fast…

The AFP – Fundraising Effectiveness Project
The Fundraising Effectiveness Project (FEP) which began in 2004 is an online survey created by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). The goal is to help nonprofits analyze their year-to-year giving. The survey compiles data from nonprofits from all sectors and allows participating nonprofits to compare their results to the entire pool of nonprofit participants or to the subsection of the pool they are in. Data can be compared against other organizations by type of organization, file size, age of file and geographic region.
ROI Solutions has been one of the charter member firms of the AFP Donor Software Workgroup since 2004. For clients of ROI Solutions wishing to participate in this FEP surveys, ROI Solutions has developed an “all-electronic” software module for the FEP surveys that eliminates the need for our clients to key the fundraising performance data manually into AFP’s web-based survey form. This module is accessible directly in Revolution Online and is available to all clients at no charge. Organizations that wish to participate should fill out their organization specific data on the AFP Profile form located on the Tools tab under Commands.
On this form you need to confirm your organization’s desire to participate and provide information such as organizational and professional staff affiliations, first year of fundraising, fundraising subsector, staff size and fundraising expenses. Once you have completed the AFP Profile Form and indicated that you would like to participate, your data will be submitted to the FEP automatically by ROI.
Viewing Your Data: The Results
After your data has been processed by the FEP, it will be available for you to view in three reports available on the Reports tab in Revolution Online:
- AFP Client Gain/Loss report shows gains and losses over a two year period exclusively for your organization. The report is broken down by New, Recapture, Upgrade, Downgrade, Lapsed New, Lapsed Repeat and is presented for both the monetary value of the gifts and the total count of gifts.
- AFP Aggregate Gain/Loss report allows you to view the same gain/loss information as the AFP Client Gain/Loss report pulled from the aggregated data that FEP provides to participating nonprofits. In this report you can select to view the data for a subset of the total data broken down by geographical region, file size, age of file or fundraising subsector or any combination of these factors.
- AFP Client and Aggregate Gain/Loss report allows you to compare your gain/loss performance to the entire pool of data or to any of the subsets, or combination of subsets described for the AFP Aggregate Gain/Loss above.
