HRC’s Virtual Unite for Equality Event by Sarah Birnie
On Thursday 9/24 I had the pleasure of attending the Human Rights Campaign’s Unite For Equality Virtual Event. As someone who had the pleasure of working for this amazing organization for more than 11 years, working at many of their National Dinners in Washington, DC, I can say with certainty that the virtual event had everything of a live event. Amazing speakers. Powerful messages. Tear-jerking moments. Humor. Great music.
It was a wonderful reminder of all the work HRC has done over the years for the LGBTQ+ community, and what they’ll continue to do for years to come. I am energized by their work to make schools a welcoming place, to get out the vote (p.s. please vote!), to fight racial injustice, to fight transphobia, and to work toward a world where LGBTQ+ people are embraced at home, at work, and in the community. If you’re interested in getting involved, visit https://www.hrc.org/get-involved.
Many kudos and thanks to my friends still at HRC and to those I haven’t met. You sure know how to put on a show!
