Derek brings a commitment to the nonprofit sector with over 25 years of experience in a variety of roles and organizations. Derek uses his fundraising, consulting and technical background to deeply understand business requirements so that he can match them to appropriate solutions and services. He’s thrilled that ROI Solutions places a special emphasis on client success and partnership, which has become a diminished priority at some larger companies.
Derek started his career at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis (the world’s largest!), where he coordinated large volunteer programs, implemented a volunteer management system, wrote funding proposals and developed supporting communication pieces. He joined Blackbaud in 1999, just in time for Y2K, to provide technical support and product training to customers. As Managing Consultant, he was a founding member of the professional services practice. He implemented The Raiser’s Edge, performed database audits, trained other consultants and supported business development efforts to create client implementation plans. Derek then progressed into Enterprise Account Executive and Strategic Account Manager roles to advise some of Blackbaud’s largest customers through CRM and digital system implementations and conversions. He was most recently at EverTrue, a cloud-based mobile platform for higher education that enhances constituent records with digital behavior and publicly available data to help fundraisers build more meaningful relationships with prospects and donors.
Derek lives near the beach in the Charleston, SC area with his wife and son. He reads voraciously, kayaks through the marshes around his home, sings along loudly to 80s synthpop and geeks out with comics and the Legos he appropriates for the home office from his son’s closet.
